You might have heard of so many different methods to repair your credit rating, some work and others do not. In this article I will go over a few of the credit repair techniques that can work effectively to improve your credit rating.
The first one worth mentioning in this article would be the popular credit “dispute” or “challenge”, this method takes advantage of the fact that the credit laws allows you to challenge items on your credit report with the credit bureaus.
By law, they have to launch an investigation into your claim and the burdens of prove falls on them. In other words they need to prove to you in some way that the item you are challenging is correct and can stay on your credit files.
They are to get in contact with the original creditor for documentation and have a certain time frame to get this done. If they cannot complete their investigation within thirty days then the item needs to be removed from your credit report. This is how the challenge process works.
It is important to note that it does not matter if the item is correct or not, they need to prove it!
Another technique you can use to clean up your credit report is to not only take from your report but add to it. You have to remember that the credit scoring formula looks for credit on your report that is being used wisely. It wants to see some available credit with timely monthly payments, a “good history” so to speak.
You can accomplish this by applying for a secure credit card, they are easier to get even with poor credit and I would advise everyone to get one if they are in the process of rebuilding their credit rating.
