Choosing to Leave

We all have the right to feel safe from violence. The decision to leave a violent relationship is often a difficult one. It often follows many attempts to persuade a partner that his behaviour needs to change.

In choosing to leave a woman sends a clear message to her partner (and importantly to her children) that she will no longer accept responsibility for coping with his behaviour.

It gives him the opportunity to come to terms with the fact that he does have a problem, and that he needs to do something about it.
