Keep a bag packed and stored close to hand (in the car, the wardrobe, at a friend's house) in case you need to leave in a hurry.
Some of these items could be carried around in your wallet and handbag at all times.
The bag could contain:
- Money
- A change of clothes (particularly underwear) for you and the children
- Nappies/bottles/dummies/formula/small toys
- Identification
- Medication and current prescriptions
- Car rego, title deeds or other important records
- Bank books (joint, yours, kids, cheque books and credit cards)
- Financial documents (tax file number, superannuation, loan records)
- Centrelink details
- Medicare card and health care card
- Children's immunisation records
- Special photographs
- Address book
Give some thought to what you put in the bag. It needs to be portable and you need to be able to access it quickly.
