Emergency Kit

Keep a bag packed and stored close to hand (in the car, the wardrobe, at a friend's house) in case you need to leave in a hurry.

Some of these items could be carried around in your wallet and handbag at all times.
The bag could contain:

  • Money
  • A change of clothes (particularly underwear) for you and the children
  • Nappies/bottles/dummies/formula/small toys
  • Identification
  • Medication and current prescriptions
  • Car rego, title deeds or other important records
  • Bank books (joint, yours, kids, cheque books and credit cards)
  • Financial documents (tax file number, superannuation, loan records)
  • Centrelink details
  • Medicare card and health care card
  • Children's immunisation records
  • Special photographs
  • Address book

Give some thought to what you put in the bag. It needs to be portable and you need to be able to access it quickly.
