Where to Go

Deciding where to go is an important part of your safety plan. Think how your partner will react to you leaving, and take appropriate precautions.

  • Arrange a safe place to stay where he can't contact you. You can still contact him if you want to.
  • Think about whether or not it's safe to stay in the same area. You may decide to leave the area even for a short while.
  • Family and friends might be a good option. Are they known to your partner? Consider their safety too.
  • Women's refuges offer supported, short term accommodation, often at secret locations.
